Ari Fuld: May his memory be a blessing

It took a few moments to register. The American-Israeli murdered yesterday in a knife attack at a shopping mall near Efrat, Gush Etzion was the much-loved and outspoken Israel activist, Ari (Lion) Fuld. He succumbed to wounds after being rushed to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem and leaves behind a wife and four children.
Security camera video shows the cowardice of the Palestinian terrorist who ran up from behind and without provocation attacked his targeted victim with a knife. Watching was like getting the wind knocked out of you.
At his funeral that took place close to midnight IDT, Ari Fuld was recognized repeatedly as a hero. He served in the elite Golani Infantry Brigade and later as a reservist. He was the assistant director of Standing Together, the show host of BULLETPROOF on Israel News Talk Radio and a tireless media spokesman advocating in defense of Israel. On his personal Facebook page, Ari posted, “When I demand evidence to back up an opinion, it’s not bullying. As Ben Shapiro puts it, ‘Facts Don’t Care About Your Feelings.’”
A hero to the end, Ari chased his assailant, then shot and neutralized him in a final act that saved lives. Ironically, the jihadist is being cared for at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem.
Hillel Fuld summarized his brother’s life in an online tribute: “He lived as a hero and died as a hero.” During the funeral that was livestreamed, his father said, “Zion is crying and the land of Israel is crying. Ari affected thousands all over the world. . . I can only be satisfied that the entire nation of Israel is grieving today for a true hero, a hero who is like a lion.”
Ari Fuld and I never personally met. For all lovers of Israel, however, there is an invisible bond that unites us in shared understanding and purpose. Ari’s passionate zeal as an advocate for Israel is the legacy all friends of Israel must embrace. Let the Lion roar.
